2009 was a great year for me, and i hope that 2010 will be even better for everyone i know!

Ohmygod.

I visited all the universities in Singapore and came to the conclusion that there's most probably no way i'm getting in.

NUS Cut-off at around 3.5.

NTU Cut-off at around 3.65.

And i dont even wanna think of the other universities.

But I made up my mind not to major in Business anymore, because i dont think i can stand another 3 more years of macroecons and accounting shits. (not that i can get into an uni, but maybe...)

Oh my, what am i to do?

Might as well be like EYLJ, find a rich guy and get married.

Hahahaha! If only hor.

I was just thinking about how I'm graduating in a couple more months and still, i do not have a goal in my head and it freaks me out. It seems crazy that i had been in poly for almost 3 years and time seemed to pass so fast. Well, at least back then my O'level results were not so bad so i get to enter one of my top choices. Somehow i knew my grades won't be able to get me into any universities and i have not come up with any backup plans.

When i talk to some of my friends, they seemed to have their next 10 years mapped out properly and quite honestly, i'm envious. I think its really time to think about what i want to do but i don't know where to start. For one, i'm not sure if business is the right route for me to continue. I dont think i'm a business person but wouldnt it be a waste not to continue in it?

Hahaha, the theme was Back to School, and almost all of us wore our secondary school uniforms. I wanted to wear mine, but i donated all back to my secondary school when i graduated. Sian to the max! But thanks to my creative mind, i transformed into ....

This was taken before Xiankai reached. I miss the girls so much! And they said i slimmed down, so i love them more now. Hahaha!

Edwin and Zhonghao kidnapped him from school and bought him all the way to us....

We made him sit on the throne and gave him a crown, but he ungratefully dumped it on the floor (but we forced it back on him again), and gave him a couple of balloons before we removed his blindfold and sang the birthday song to him!

Not sure if he's surprised/happy/embarrassed. (I think its a mixture of both. Hahaha)

Its my first time celebrating a birthday in Macdonalds so i didn't know they had organized games for us to play before we give XK our presents. Haha, the games were the typical musical chairs, blow wind blow that kinda stuff, but its still fun lah.

Because its his 21st birthday, we bought him many many many presentsssss!

Josephine and I bought him a pair of shoes from Island Shop, and the design is so dope, it is love at first sight for me! :>

Then we have the Mac'D kids meals for dinner. Not enough food lor! Luckily there's cake, if not i doubt any of us would be full.

And that concludes the birthday celebration! Simple, but awesomeeee! But its not over till we had enough camwhoring (and society people sure do love to camwhore alotttt!).

Picnic @ Marina Barrage

Highlights of the outing:

1. Potluck lunch, with courtesy of Bahu bought by Bahu himself.

HAHA.

Cant believe he really bought bahu to the picnic. The Sandwich team (Edwin, Shannon, Junrong, Yusong, Lynette, Josephine and I) was formed. (:

We had sandwiches, chips, sardines, rosti, and more chips!

Highlight #2: Kite-flyinggggg!

Honestly, its my first time flying one so i'm quite excited about it. But unfortunately, the first kite (middle one) dieee also cannot fly up. Yao siu. Hahaha!

But after some tweeking from Marcus and Clarence, SUPRISINGLY it managed to get up the air to accompany BOOMZ (left)! Didn't know they can do this kinda thing. Hahaha!

Our three kites flying high up in the air! Then there's this group of guys who are flying this big orangey fish who kept tying their kite with ours. I was worried for our kite lah! Then they cut off their kite to let it be entangled with ours.

YAO SIU.

Luckily we got rid of their fish and left it landing on some tree.

HAHAHAHAHA.

Highlight #3: The kite that couldn't fly high.

Somehow, Yusong went to buy a NEW kite worth $15 that couldn't fly high. Such a waste of money. Hahaha! He fly until pekchek but we had fun laughing at his kite while we are flying ours.

He wont stop trying even when the sky had turned dark.
Highlight #4: JUMPSHOTS!

Weather was simply awesome that day so we tried to attempt jumpshots together as a whole group! Its crazily funny, and we did so many rounds of it before we got a decent shot. Hahaha!

Josephine filmed down a video recording of us attempting the jumpshot so many times. Its on FB! And idiot, bluff us she's taking pictures. Made us jump so hard. Haha.

We met up with Grace, who happens to be at Marina Barrage that day because of her company's event and we managed to get free food with her help! All we had to do is to wear lightsticks around our wrists and we get free drinks. (:

Can you believe Yusong drank like half a bottle of liquor that night? INSANE. His whole body turned red, like a lobster and funnily, he kept greeting us in Korean. Hahaha.

Cannot drink so much then dont drink lah. Yishun-ers have to send him home. Siann. Hahaha.

Ngee Ann was flooded today!

The atrium, BA Level 7 office, Library and even the new Makanplace is flooded. There's even a waterfall coming from the roof of Makanplace.

Speaks so much about NP's architecture.

I hope the school spend some time and money upgrading the buildings! I bet the other schools doesn't have this kind of flooding problem.

But its still quite a happening day!

WISP <Dialogue in the Dark> tour was freaking awesome! The tour is for us to experience the life of the visually impaired people, and after the tour, i think these people are so brave and we should help them whenever we can.

P.S. Strangely, i thought of Enshen when i heard the word 'Flooding'.

AIMLESS BORING DAY OUT

On the day we went back to school to return our professional NP blazers, we (as a gang of 6) went out to catch The Ugly Truth! Okay, i know this thing is like a gazillion years ago but i still wanna blog it out!

Its truly an awesome boring day for all of us because we feel so aimless after Vietnam trip! Oh man. Suddenly there's no schedule to follow, no morning calls and nothing for us to follow. We are sooo not used to it! ):

We thought aimlessly about where/what we should do before the movie starts, and Shannon wanted to eat MacD, so we slacked for quite some time there. Honestly, i was daydreaming and doing nothing but looking at Lynette and Josephine playing Ipod touch.

The Ugly Truth was a great show! The lead guy's totally hot stuff. Haha, and it was funnnyyyy! But after the movie, we felt aimless again because we have no idea what's next.
Hahaha!

So we did the Society Usual - Rocher Tao Huey-ing.

Did a hell lotsa camwhoring that night.

HAPPY BELATED HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

Its been a tad long since i updated anything besides IBSM trip. But i had recently spent an awesomeeeee halloween party with the IB people @ The Loft! The dresscode was quite simple: Black. But some people still pattern, came in their own clothes.

Xinying, Yi Lin and I were quite excited about our costumes for that night, because what's halloween without a costume right right?! So we decided that the three of us will be THE A-Go-Go Girls that night. Hahaha, funky hor.

Xinying and I really DID spam alot lor! But Yilin didnt. You go stand one corner lah. Hahaha!

Although the costumes was a last minute notice thing, but many of us still managed to bring our costumes along! We are sporting people man.

After the hide-and-seek, we played some drinking games back at the Loft.

Poor rastus kanna alot of times and had to drink quite alot. Halfway through the game, i think he got high already. Hahaha.

En Shen is like a super good drinker! He didnt get drunk at all man.

But of course, apart from the sober, these guys were gone:

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS STUDY MISSION 2009 (VIETNAM)

Part 7

DAY 9

It is finally down to the final 2 days of our trip and its kinda sad for me because we were just starting to bond so well together. Nonetheless, i had gazillion tons of fun with these people during the trip, so i guess every ending is a new beginning all over!

We met up with the owner of Casserado Furniture early in the morning. He is very typical Singaporean from the way he pronounce his 'eh lah loh'.

HAHA. FINALLY A SINGAPORE SINGAPOREAN IN VIETNAM!

We were bought on a tour of his factory where he manufactures sofas and couches to overseas clients, and it is interesting!

Never before had i seen pink foam (or sponge) produced in just minutes and it looks like Chinese 'Fa Gao'! Hahaha. Looks good enough to eat even.

We also met up with the University of Economics for a student exchange thing later in the afternoon as well. I'm surprised the students are around the same age as us and all of them speaks English.

Introductions made, and both sides gave their summary of their countries' cultures. The powerpoint was alright, until we reach the part when they talked about economics.

UH. I tried hard to pay attention lah. Hahaha!

They sang their traditional Mid Autumn Festival song for us! So sweet!
We tried to follow the lyrics and sing along, but the only words we could truly pronouce in sync with theirs is ' Tung Din Din (x2)!'

They were really nice people!
Vu, Ying and another girl which i cant remember! Shit. Hahaha.

We did our dance performance for them as well, and sang 'Home'.

Honestly, the dance wasn't so bad. I think we did pretty well. Hahaha!

Lastly, we were privileged to meet up with the CEO of Thomson Medical for a lunch networking session. From the way he speaks, you can tell that he's knowledgeble and has so many years of experience to share with us in his career. Amazing.

Because its the last night we are having in Vietnam, we had a farewell dinner cruise on a ship that night! Goodness, cant believe its the last night we are staying in THL. ):

Just as we were about to start the dinner, IT RAINED.

Spoiler only! The ship had to lower down their binds to protect us from getting wet, which means subtracting the scenery!

Of all the days and nights to rain, it had to rain on that night. Hahaha. But we still managed to take some photos beforehand:

I think i'm adapting so well to Vietnam that i dont feell like leaving.

HAHAHA.

Towards the end of the dinner cruise, someone bought out 2 birthday cakes to celebrate the September babies. But then they decided to celebrate the birthdays of those people who fall under September - December, which means Xinying and I!!!!!

Karen is a great tourguide! She's more like a friend to everyone and i'm really glad to have known her during this trip. I hope she comes to Singapore one day so we could be her tourguides this time round! Hahaha.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS STUDY MISSION 2009 (VIETNAM)

Part 6

Day 7 & 8

Ho Chi Minh City - Vung Tau

Hello, i'm back to updating about my Vietnam trip! So far it had been interesting and all of us had bonded rather well with a couple of inside jokes. Haha.

Our tourguide Long. We call him Ahlong in short.

I think HCMC's weather is worse than in Hanoi. At least you get to experience occasional drizzles in Hanoi, but HCMC gets nothing but bright sunshine everyday! I swear sometimes its hard to see straight because the sun's so glaring!

Some companies we visited on day 7 were SACOMM Bank, Phu My Hung and Pho24. The reason why i stopped blogging about the trip is because of this extremely taxing day for all of us. Its exhausting to write too. Hahaha.

SACOMM Bank is one of the biggest banks in Southern Vietnam. They are the 6th biggest lenders in Vietnam and offers all sorts of loans and different borrowing schemes for customers. Oh shit. I need to stop if not i would be writing my report on my blog instead.

Anyway, this is the mighty CEO of SACOMM Bank.

Next up, Phu My Hung.
This is a Taiwan based company which helps to develop infrastructures to improve Vietnamese lives. To summarise everything in a nutshell, they basically sell houses to people, both foreigners and Vietnamese.

The lady which gave us a speech and answered all our questions is a Taiwanese! She speaks Chinese! I have no idea why, but we were all super happy when she speaks Chinese. Maybe its finally a language we all could understand properly here in Vietnam.

She provided us with a tour of their residential areas and schools, and i must say its seriously NOT BAD AT ALL.
I wouldnt mind living in one of these if the price is more.. reasonable. Hahaha!
They have villas and condos. But i dont think you wanna know how much one of each costs.

After the company visits, we went back to TAN HAI LONG (Love!) for a little rest before our networking dinner with the Singapore Business Group. I was so exhausted that i got knocked out after 15 minutes of lying on my bed unconciously!

Josephine had a hard time waking me up for the networking dinner. Now's my turn. ):

She said she tried to shake and shout at me but not getting any response from me at all. But in the end, i woke up to her shouting. I felt really sleepy throughout the networking session after the 30mins nap. Hahaha.

I think our group is the most buay paiseh and unglam group among the rest. Hahaha! We were so hungry after the Q&A session that we took quite alot of food to our table only to realise that when they say 'networking dinner', it usually means 'networking without the dinner.'

Networking dinner is not easy you know!

Just imagine this:

You need to think on your feet about small talk topics while trying to concentrate on peeling the damn prawn so that the shell doesnt fly off your plate!

Damn.

No wonder Mrs. Ng only took a little portion of food. And no prawns.

Look at how Xinying is sitting! Hahaha! That's the table in between her legs by the way. Because she's sitting in the middle of two tables, that's why her legs must open until this way. We are so unglam that people dont even notice.

I think all three of us didnt fit the theme at all. Hahahaha!
Lynette's expression is so classic. Ask her to pretend she got raped, then she gave the shocked expression like she just won a million bucks.

Ok lah, dont say people. Mine was like shit too. Haha.

Before the networking dinner, we also went to Pho 24, the best selling beef/chicken noodles in Vietnam with many outlets around Vietnam and in other countries as well.

They made use of 24 different ingredients and 24 different processes to make the soup base, so you can be guaranteed about the greate taste! I tasted the chicken noodles, but i think the beef one is nicer because the soup had more flavor.

And like every meal we had in Vietnam, we always see this appearing on the table.
It might be in different colors and fillings, but its still the same:

The noodles came with other spices and vegetables that we can add into our soup according to our personal preferences. This is the chicken version. The soup is not too bad, i liked it.

On day 8, we visited Vung Tau Investment Promotion Center. A goverment based agency to attract foreign investors into Vungtau area.

Halfway through the Q&A, the representative called me 'MR. Ong Kai Xin'.

I got Karen's namecard from her during lunch, and i think i left it on the table. Shit.

Some of the lovely views we see in Vung Tau! We are staying at Sammy Hotel for 1 night! We were kinda excited at first, because the views from the hotel seems not bad. But but but! LOOKS ARE DECEIVING!

Next, we visited DIC Star Hotel, a 4 star hotel in Vietnam. We met up with their manager, but i think the manager doesnt seem to understand how to answer our questions, so most of the time his answers were not really useful for our research, which is a pity.

Xinying: Eh En Sheng, why you never ask about flooding?
En Sheng: This is a hotel what.
Xinying: You never know mah! Just ask Just ask!
En Sheng: Hmm. Okay. So had your company experienced any floodings in the past?
Everyone: ............. AHAHAHA!

Hahaha.

When we reached our hotel, we were imagining some kinda gorgeous lobby much better than THL. But sad to say, horribly disappointed!

The lobby's is open-aired, but it just lacks the grandness of a hotel (unlike Tan Hai Long).

Omg, i'm a TanHaiLong fan! HAHAHA.

And when we reached our rooms, WORSEEEEEEEEEEE.
The room Josephine and I had was not well ventilated, and the aircon seems to be spoilt so its freaking hot in our room.

Worst thing is: The last residents must had smoked in the room, because due to the poor air ventilation, the smoke's not gone yet! WTF.

So what if you got nice views of the sea,

Singapore has sea views too.

And our hotels do not have the smell of smoke in the rooms!

Ultra horrible. Lynette, Xinying Yilin and I went exploring the nearby mall beside our hotel - The Imperial Place.

WAH. I tell you!
The whole place is SOOOOO deserted its like a ghost town! Its so quiet too! Where are the tourists, or people roaming around the mall???

Even queuing up for ice cream also got no queue. In fact, i think we might be the biggest batch of customers the girl of the shop had ever seen, that she doesnt have enough ice cream cones for us.

One of the countries we visited before checking in to Sammy Hotel was Vung tau Auditing Firm. Honestly, its 10x more boring than the Investment Center.

I think everyone secretly hope that this company visit will end ASAP, because we were all exhausted and there's the problem with communication as well. But we have an aspiring auditor in our group, ENSHENG, who can't help but take this chance to ask alot of questions about the life of an auditor.

Honestly, the life of an auditor is spent doing accounts for companies lah! What else do you expect auditors to do? Play a part in stopping floods? Hahaha, okay la. WISP taught me that sterotyping is wrong.

Maybe there ARE auditors that stop floodings.

Hmmmmmmmm.

I can't imagine, sorry. Hahahaha!

It was so agonising that we spent our time camwhoring while waiting for Ensheng to finished questioning.

We had a seafood feast after the company visits!
Yay! Though the seafood soup was too sour for my taste, and there's the presense of Spring rolls again (!!!), but it was nonetheless great because of the company. :D

Reheased in Shuwen's room after dinner for the performance the next day till 12 plus am, and we headed back to our rooms for some rest. But since my room has poor ventilation and the fucking smoke smell is still not gone (the aircon's on for so long and its still there! wtf), I went to sleep in Lynette's room and Josephine slept in Xinying's room.

Ahlong (our tourguide) bought us to a rubber plantation before heading down to Cu Chi tunnel for a site visit.

I had seen these in television shows and pictures, but never before in real life.
Thumbs up.

The first thing we did when we reached Cu Chi Tunnel was a slight introduction of the history of CuChi Tunnel. It spoke of the war between the Americans and Vietnamese in the past.

The introductory video was quite funny, because it seems to sterotype Americans by calling them some awful names.

Imagine crawling in a tunnel that's smaller than the one below here:

I could just imagine the backaches you will get by walking in the tunnel much less living inside it. The Vietnamese were really tough people. (Y)

We walked around the area, and we saw how this woman here is making rice paper, which can be used for spring rolls and coconut candy.

Okay, the moment! Going in already!

Inside the tunnel, it was moist, dark and there's poor air ventilation, therefore its super stuffy. We all sweated like cows. Hahahaha!

I was holding on to JR's shirt because he moved too fast for me to catch up! I scared later i go the wrong passageway, then i wont know where i'll end up sia. Haha.

The tunnel's not just a straight road with curves, but sometimes you have to climb up steps or drop down a level to continue crawling.

After climbing out of the tunnel, we wanted air con so badly. Hahaha! It was a relief to reach the coach after the crawl. Its a good experience definately.

Hahaha, sounds funny? Its a nice change to the regular 6 course meals we are receiving everyday, thats' for sure. Do you know they even serve rice at KFC?

Vietnamese loved their rice too much. Hahaha. Maybe the reason Vietnamese are so skinny is because they rarely eat fastfood.

Headed over to the Water Puppet after lunch. It started to drizzle a little.

Actually, i have no idea what the whole story is about, just that there's a couple who rears a couple of animals and basically, talks about their way of life everyday.

Then we went to Saigon Square for shopping. There really isn't much there that' worth buying because the prices are really high and they dont do bargaining.

Dinner at a local restaurant again. But this time round, there's PHO (fur)! Its Vietnamese staple dish all the time. Its basically chicken/beef noodles.

However, we were having dry beef noodles that night so it wasn't very appertizing.

This dish is damn weird. Never tasted anything like it before, and didnt liked it. Its like... rice. Hah.

Headed back to the hotel supposedly to sleep, but then Edwin and gang crashed our room and we had helleva fun laughing away and dancing. :>

Halfway through all the laughing, we decided to get serious and learn the dance steps for our performance.

Its hilarious watching everyone learning the steps seriously, but we managed to finish half of the whole routine in one night.Quite an achievement actually.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS STUDY MISSION 2009 VIETNAM

Part 4

Day 5

We arrived in HCMC in the evening after our screwed up flights in Hanoi. There's some problem with their system and we had to divide into 2 different flights to HCMC. We were super excited when we reach the hotel, because it looks much more posh then the one we stayed in Hanoi!

Josephine and I were especially excited because we prayed that this time round, our room will be much MUCH bigger. Hahaha, and yes! Our suite is AWESOME! Finally we got a bathtub.

I still remember Josephine's luggage almost jam the only lift in the hotel. Hahaha! Damn funny trying to drag the wheels out of the lift. Afterwhich, we thought our room was 704, but it turns out to be 705 instead! Hahaha, the both of us are damn blur!

Next time go HCMC must stay at this hotel. Its near the city centre and their laundry smells super nice! Like baby powder y'know! :D

So Day 5 and 6 were supposedly our R&R days, but we still gotta wake up damn early in the morning! How i wish we can really sleep more. Every night when i reach our hotel room, i swea i can fall asleep in 15mins!

Hahaha. Lunch was damn funnyyyyy!

I think i was one of the calmest. Actually not that scary lah, except this part when the snake's head is coming towards me. Hah.

We tried their local honey lemon tea.
Not very nice actually. Its too sour. And fuck, there's bees!

I think all of us can at least guess 2 types of fruits that they will serve us during dinner everyday. Power anot. That's how much we had seen these fruits around.

We took a Sampan ride too.
Wah wah this is like the best part!
The lighting's so good that our faces looked like its literally GLOWING.

I'm not kidding! Its super good.

Anyway, halfway through the journey i realised we could actually row the sampan too. So i tried and urgh.... hahaha! Accidently splash some teh-c onto Josephine and Lynette.

Dinner.

After dinner, we decided the night's still young, so some of us went for massages while others went for shopping.
One small group of us decided to go to the ice cream shop our tourguide recommanded. :D

We ordered a wide variety to try. Lynette was super cute when she's taking this photo of the ice creams.

Like the ice cream will react to that. Hahaha!

We went shopping, and we bought group tees for everyone for Day 6! ahaha, so cool lah! All of us wearing Vietnam's flag shirt. :D

Lynette's and Edwin's bargaining skills are damn zai and funny. It was damn fun shopping there!

Headed back to the hotel after shopping and headed out to their local mart to buy snacks for the journal-session later on in our room.

We have to write daily journals entries about the company visits everyday, and the dateline's on Day 6. Writing together as a group is awesome yo!

Lots of laughter and fun. Hahaha. Our oreo challenge still hadnt come true eh.

DAY 4

Its the twin's birthdays and our last day in Hanoi!
Our tourguide, Canh, planned a sweet surprise celebration for them during our farewell lunch.

As its our last day in Hanoi, we had to say goodbye to our tourguide Canh. Xinying sang a chinese song to him, and nearly teared.
Hahahaha!
And he said, "I cant talk right now.. because i very emotion! Very emotion, so i rather not speak now. Thank you very much!"

Walau. Cannot take it. Hahaha, too funny already lah! EmotionAL becomes emotion. Haha!

He took us to the jailhouse where Vietnamese were locked up during the war with France.

After the visit to the prison, we headed over to Standard Chartered.

The person who handled our questions was very precise and we were done with the Q&A in less than 30 minutes man. We headed down to Hanoi International Airport during the evening. Its kinda strange, knowing that we had landed in the same place 4 days ago, not knowing everyone in the group and now we are heading down to HCMC.

Flights were screwed up and we waited like gazillion years waiting for our turns to check in our luggages. When we did, a few of us had to take another flight to HCMC because of insufficient seats. ):

Reached HCMC around 7 and dead tired.

Picnic @ Marina Barrage with IBSM people was awesome! My virgin kite flying experience was given to them. Hah.
Caught The Ugly Truth with some of IBSM people. The movie's damn funny. Aimless roaming around after that and ended up tauhuey-ing.
Kbox session with the same group of people @ AMK. Didnt know Shannon's vocals are quite power one eh. Hahaha.
JB road trip was awesome to the max! Cheap and good kbox rates blew our minds! Genting trip coming up next and i cant wait!
Ziyi's belated surprise birthday celebration was a success! Glad he enjoyed the cake. We went from Newton - Kallang - The Cathay - Thomson Road - Home. Zai.

Okay, i will be back to fill up this space in the future. Hah. :D

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS STUDY MISSION TRIP 2009 (VIETNAM)

Part 3

Early in the morning, we travelled to Vinc Phuc Investment Center for another workday. Canh said it will take us "approximately 1 hour and 59 minutes" to reach there. Hahaha! Means its a 2hours ride laaaaa.

Funny only.
And because the people there only speaks Vietnamese, he has to be our translator of the day.

It was a sleepy session because both sides have miscommunication problems. Either that, or they aint really answering our questions. The funniest thing happened when the person in charge has to leave us for another meeting, so Canh translated his goodbye message to us:
"Ah.. Mr. A has to leave for another meeting.. So let's all feel sorry for him."

HAHAHAHHAHAA! WTF.
I looked around and everyone who caught the pun was trying not to laugh out loud.
Walau, feel sorry for him leh!

For those who doesn't get it, i think it should meant that the host is sorry for having to leave us for another meeting, not that we should feel sorry for him!

Josephine bought her $5 unbrella from Cotton On and had yet to use it in Vietnam, so she insisted on opening it IN THE COACH. Hahaha.

Oh, and we visited Honda Vietnam too!

Xinying is like the queen of fish in our group. Reason being, she knows the parts very well, so everytime anyone wants fish, we go " Xinying help me scoop fish leh!"

They brew Tiger Beer, Heneiken, and 2 other types of beers there.

We had a factory tour of the manufacturing and packaging departments, and it was fanscinating! The scenery up there was good too.

The speaker is super enthusiastic and animated. He even gave us free shirts and bottles of beer after the session.

It was around 7pm by the time we were finished for the day. But because we were leaving tomorrow evening for HCMC, Canh wanted to show us the night market in Hanoi before we leave.

And at dinnertime, we saw this again:

Hanoi's night market was quite cool, but the traffic and roads are killers. At times we saw motorbikes going in different directions at the same time at a junction! And we were trying to cross that road. Goodness.

Thrilling only. Clarence bought a pooh balloon from the night market, and he gave it to Canh. Hahaha.

"Sir, want to buy helmet? Cheap cheap, 100,000 only!"

HANOI DAY 2!

Its Day 2 in Hanoi, Vietnam.

We are slowly getting used to the enviroment and culture over there. The sun in Vietnam rises as early as 5am, and by 6am it hung brightly in the sky for us.

The hotel's breakfast was so-so. Warm milk tastes disgusting, but the chef's egg benedict is awesomeeeee! <:

Actually there's an internal 'conflict' on our group name, which is damn funny.

Damn exciting only. Some of the motorbikes doesnt care about humans one. Luckily our tour guide taught us how to cross safely over.

Couple of days later, we figured out that "Just walk straight" is the best chance you got to cross the road safely. If you turn to look at the motorbikes, they will try to zoom pass you!

The first stop on our agenda that day was

Hanoi's War Memorial

As Vietnam's a country that had experenced many wars with the Chinese, French and US, they have tons of war memorials littered around the country i think.

We couldnt take photographs inside the museum, so Canh became our photographer of the day.

But of course, illegial photo taking is always a better alternative. After walking a little in the museum, we are starting to feel the heat man.
There's no aircon and only a couple of fans there, so our attention span was rather short as compared to the effort of searching for a nearby fan to cool ourselves down. Haha.

Temple of Literature

This temple used to be the first university for Vietnamese in the past. Scholars get their names carved on a plaque carried on by a stone turtle. It was a rather amazing place and its huge!

As we still have some time before meeting our first company of the day with Cherie's Hearts International, Canh bought us to visit a Chinese pagoda near the West Lake in Hanoi.

From far, it looks quite majestic eh.
But the walls are ALL nearly covered with flying insects! Like wtf. They even have cemetaries inside.

Along the way, i saw alot of slums and wondered who will want to set up a preschool here considering the income of the people nearby.

When i reached Cherie's Hearts, i was so surprised, because the entire building looks somewhat like a kingdom amidst the slums!

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS STUDY MISSION TRIP 2009 (VIETNAM)
Part 1

Before embarking on our 10 days of holidays to Vietnam, we had a 5 days workshop based in school from 9-5pm everyday.
After attending it for 2 days, the air con makes it unbearable for me, so i had no choice but to skip the test!

Finally the day comes when we are setting off to VIETNAMMMM! So freaking eggcited about the trip, hahaha!

After around 4 hours of flight, we are finally landing in Vietnam Hanoi! Super excited about our hotel and our tour guide.

Our tour guide is Canh, and he's a damn humorous guy! Though his english is CMI, but his humor and stories covers up that imperfection.

His standard "Good evening Ladies and Gentlemens... Today i would like to give you a short presentation on our agenda today (but its never short)! Thank you very much for listening, thank you, thanks!"

Omgod, he always crack us up. Josephine can imitate his voice very well sia.

Canh bought us to a local Vietnamese restaurant for dinner first before heading over to our hotel. Along the way, we saw ALOT ALOT ALOT of motorbikes! Even women wearing short skirts and stilettos sia. Vietnamese are truly super zai.

But, before we could get to the restaurant, we got lost in the streets of Hanoi.......
Hahaha, damn ironic, considering Canh mentioned previously that he knows the streets of Hanoi very well.

I'm blogging from school now from the IBSM workshop!
I'm pretty exhausted and am trying not to fall asleep flat on my laptop in the class. Anyway, couple of updates:

1. FDI EXHIBITION 2009

Its finally over!
It had been a great experience working there. The people were all very pleasent and sweet, even though we all came from different countries.

Right is Switzerlands!

The Swedes were selling a rehabitation device for patients that had suffered strokes and have difficulties opening their mouths to talk or eat.

He told me although i'm alone in this exhibition, but i will not be lonely.

Oh ya, quite a number of people working at the exhibition are middle-aged guys from abroad. But i saw 2 singaporeans working for Wrigley! One of them is Juliana's classmate, like omgwtf! Hahaha, i didnt know sia!

This is Mathias, from Sweden. His partner, Joakim who is a Swetish, lives in HongKong.

They are SUPER nice!
When i knocked off from work on the 2nd day, i discovered that one pile of my magazines on the table was missing the next morning, so i asked these guys and they told me they helped me to distribute them out after i left.

Oh man.. super sweet! :>

I found out something when i was working at the exhibition.
One. Swetish people loves to drink coffee.
Sweden is ranked 2nd among all countries that consumes the most coffee.
Mathias's highest record was 25 cups of coffee in one day! That's more than the hours in a day.

Two. Switzerland people loves to drink liquor.
Anthony (Germany) spilled whiskey onto his notes one day, which was really funny.. seeing the way he tries to mop it up. :x

Three. Sweden's food are not really that good.

Their food are usually just marinated with salt and pepper without using any spices, therefore they taste rather bland. Italians have the best food.

Last day of work was tears for me. ):
I know its stupid but I was overwhelmed by the things they did for me. Hahaha.

It was sad that this was the last day i will see them again. But it was a great experience nonetheless. I met alot of great people and well, sometimes i wonder how i get so lucky.

2. LUNCH WITH REBEKAH

Met Rebekah and her friends for dinner after my work on Saturday. I was shocked when she told me she's flying off on SUNDAY, which is like tomorrow!

Chatted quite a fair bit and sent her off to Orchard because she's meeting another group of friends for dinner. And that's when i realised the next time i'm seeing her face is 6months later. Cried again. ):

ION-ED and SUNTEC EXHIBITION JOB SET-UP DAY

Lunched @ Secret Recipe with class after our final paper, and some of us headed off to Ion for some shopping!

In the end, only Amanda managed to buy something she liked. Haha.

SET-UP DAY @ SUNTEC FDI EXHIBITION

FDI sorta means a world dental congress whereby dentists and professionals from all over the world will take a look at the various types of dental technologies and products.

I'm representing International Dental Products of China [IDPC], which i have absolutely no idea what is it about till that day. Hah.

Took my exhibitor pass from the registration booth outside the exhibition hall. Nice!
Its only till when i sat at the lonely booth waiting for DHL then did i realise that i might be the only one working there for the next 4 days........ shit.

The other booths look totally A.MAZ.ING. No shit.

Our class is the 1st to present for our business partners from Envizyme as well as our tutors. We had been slogging our hearts out for this presentation in the past weeks, hoping to achieve the best grades we can get.

Today, I was lying in bed, trying to sleep, when I heard my parents having sex, so I put on my headphones. After listening to music for a good long while, I figured they were done by now, so I took off the headphones just in time to hear them finish. FML

Today, after my girlfriend of 2 years left me for another guy, I got stuck in an elevator for 3 hours. With both of them. FML

Today, I was at the airport to catch a plane. It was very crowded at the gate and there was nowhere to sit except for a flat metal bench, so I sat on that. Turns out I was sitting on a luggage scale, so my weight was displayed for everybody to see. FML

Swimming session + Flyer trip + Shannon's birthday celebration all in one day!
The swimming session is what we girls just cant wait for! Okay lah, maybe just me, lynette, and evon. (Lyn's so excited she couldnt sleep, haha!)

Lynette drove us from Bukit Batok to her house, and we swimmed, tanned, played with the playground and had our suana session.

Huifang bought her body scrub, and Lynette generously offered us her hair scrub! (:
It was so hot halfway through that i couldnt breathe properly, so i had to go out and take a breather. Hahaha, but sweating it out was damn good!

Halfway through our washing up, i felt my face turned smaller! Hahaha! Or maybe its just my imagination. ):

All done, and off we go to meet the guys at the Flyer! The weather's so hot, it made us sweat it out AGAIN.

Not long ago, our whole class went down to visit the company our class is collaborating with for our FYP. A little background information about them:

Envizyme Pte Ltd is founded by Derick and they specialises in producing organic cleaning products. Sounds typical and boring right?

But here's the catch.

The collect our usual leftover fruits and vegetables, let it ferment for 3months or so, and Boom! They created 100% organic washing detergent.
What's more, their washing detergents plays a part in minimizing the process of global warming, and its not harmful anywhere.
How cool is that?

Located at Woodlands' Industrial Park, the current site holds their large amount of inventory.
So far, they have came up with various types of cleaning products, mostly catered to businesses and farming industries.

We were greeted by the smell coming from the fermentating fruits and vegetables when we arrived at their factory. The staff were friendly, and we were led up to their office where Derick is waiting for us.

Through the briefing Derick gave us, I understood more than just his company and his passion for his products, but also his efforts in promoting it to other places who needs them.

After the briefing, he showed us around the site.
They cultivate enzymes for their fermentation as well.

This is fermenting lemongrass by the way.
And that's a Rolex he's wearing.

The fermented fruits and vegetables are sealed in air tight containers, and are labelled neatly. Though the smell may be a little weird in the beginning, but it gets tolerable after awhile.

I especially like their hand sanitizer alot.
Its lime-flavored and it smells awesome.

This is a container holding fermented oranges.

Derick and his staff were very helpful and friendly, and he even gave us 2 bottles of samples to try out.
So we thanked him by taking quite a number of promotion ads shots with him.

Finally caught Angels and Demons after all the anticipation of reading the original book. But sad to say, its really not what i expected.

Why must they change the storylineeeeeee.... everytime!
I wonder if there's any movies that are as good as its books.

I will start saving money even if its only 50 cents per day!

SCO CHALET 2!

To celebrate post-BAOC and all the hard work we had put into it, we SCOs rewarded ourselves with a well deserved chalet at Aloha Loyang.

That place was huge!
So for starters, we played Twisters.

While some are bbq-ing, the guys were playing their version of twister.

Alright... then some people got high on the alcohol, and tried to climb out of the bungalow wall. Lynette and I were stunned man. Then i went out to get them to come back into the house, then they ran away!

In the end, Xiankai had to stop them from destroying themselves with the alcohol. Ziyi even tried to escape through the window.

HAHAHAHHAHA.

That was really funny.

Huifang and I took care of them till we fell asleep ourselves, and then Edwin had to try to snatch my pillow away. :/

And I was so tanned that Ziyi said i looked like an indian.

After the end of BAOC, we are kept busy with Dance4Fund, a dance competition involving all schools in NP.

Selected freshies from each group are chosen and we are to teach them our SCO performance.

So much for having some time off after BAOC. Haha, we have to stay back quite late to teach the dancesteps. But we were all enjoying it very much. (:

Reached the pit at 6pm, and the guys were just getting the fire started. Most of SR people went cycling and blading, and food's already ready when they came back.

Went down to the beach for some camwhoring with the girls.
Surprisingly, the MCs had their chalet at ECP as well, and they came over to our pits to kope food. HAHA.

Some of the SCOs dropped by and we went to the not-so-nearby market for sugarcane drinks, and then decided to head over to Mac for supper because food's not enough!

Dinner and Movie session with the regular people.
We watched 252 - Signal of Life.

Honestly, its not really my type of movie. The plot's predictable and it can be summarised in 3 words:
"ALOT OF PATTERN!"

Hopefully it motivates Bryan to be more positive about his job, because he's enrolled into SCDF (Singapore Civil Defence Force).
HAHAHA.

Bought them down to Miss Clarity's Cafe for dinner.
Awesome food at an awesome price okay! No GST and service charge.

When we were done with dinner, we went to visit the new shopping mall beside Bugis Village.

Then they had a great time playing in the arcade. We saw this uncle who's a pro-mashmallow catcher. He caught 5 packs of mashmallows lah!

And then Derek whispered,' Nevermind la, let him kiap all. He must be starving at home.'
Weihan bought his girlfriend along and we went for late late supper.

Singnam's the biggest eater of the day man, i swear. He can eat non-stop one!

Anyway, great days.
One project down thus far, i swear Year 3 is seriously stressful.

SR PERFORMERS OUTING I

After the 2nd SCO chalet, I met Ziyi at Vivocity before heading over to Siloso Beach to find the SR people!

Too bad Zhonghao's sick and couldnt make it. Actually we intended to visit him as a whole group as a surprise at his house, but the only thing is we didnt know where he lived. hahaha.

Called a dozen of people and none picked up! Its only until when Ziyi and I saw Luqman on the tram, then we figured out where were the rest.

In the end, he was nearly thrown into the sea by Simon and gang,
played touch rugby and left his dirty shirt in my bag!

Actually, not only shirt, he left eggtarts and can opener inside too!

The Genting getaway with the SCOs from long long ago.
Finally, i have some time to blog it out!

It was raining in the morning of the 2nd day when we wanted to head down to the theme park. What a letdown that so many rides were closed!

The rain made Royston teared.
Or rather,

"Its his way of cheating xiao mei meis."

While we were waiting for the other guys to grab their stuff from our rooms, we camwhored quite abit with the carousel in the background.

HAHA.

It was still raining, but heck, we still bought our tickets and no rain is gonna stop us from going on those rides that day!
The only ride we saw that's avaliable was the spinning cups.

We have Evon, Lynette, Jiahuey and me in our cup!
Poor Evon felt like vomitting. :/

I remembered we got a little high over the cups, and we started doing the Society Cheer in public.
HAHAHA.

Roommates! Except for Evon.
Aw.

The rest were spamming cameras and capturing blurry shots throughout.

The next ride was some stupid supposedly-ghostly train ride.
Blah, its so stupid that i dont even wanna talk about it.

It was still raining a fair bit after the ride, so we went for archery!
Virgin archery experience for me, and it wasnt bad at all.

After the session, the rain finally stopped!!!
We practically ran to the first stop we saw which was Go-Kart.

The vehicles were all motor-powered and the whole place stinked.
Thus, we put on our handy shower caps to protect our hair from the smell.
Vain enough?

But we heard some rumors that they reuses their shower caps so ... ...

Jerry said Lynette looked like a smurf.
HAHA.

After Go-Kart, we went for Corkscreeeeew!
This is one of the better shiok-er rides, because they turned 360 degrees one!

I like the feeling of your heart accelerating when its climbing higher and higher, and feel it dropping when it goes down and round.
Sick much.

HAHA.

But then, that's NOTHING compared to THIS:

Free fall from 10 storeys high up in Genting sky!

It was kinda freaky waiting below and watching the people dropping above, but the experience can only be described with one work: SHIOK.

When its our turn to go up, we could hardly see anything infront of us because the fog is so thick. I think i was abit too stunned to say anything when it dropped.

But nonetheless, after taking the ride, all of us can annouce that ' we all got balls already! '
Especially Edwin.

Next up, we took the Pirate Ship!
Omg, society totally own that ride man.

After the freefall, we all grew wings already. hahaha!
Attempted the rides standing up, and the feeling was exhilarating!

It was pouring again when we finished Pirate Ship, and rides were closing once again..
So we rushed down to take the last ride to conclude that day - Flying Carousel?

We all felt like we were flying sitting in our seats around the carousel, except we were all drenched in the rain.
HAHAHA.
I heard Jerry complaining behind me that he's totally wet!

After the rides, some went to wash up, while a few of us went for shopping.
Didnt bought much, waited along with Jerry for the others.

The night was filled with laughter to the max, with indian poker and performances by Royston "Nobody", Huifang's Sexxxayyye catwalk, Leonard grinding the chair, Starbucks chat, and late night talks with the girls.

Videos unavaliable, but we seen it ourselves, and it was indeed hilarious.
HAHAHA.

On the 3rd day, said Goodbye to Genting and Hello Singapore.
The ride back was super long, so after our dinner stop, we played Zhong Ji Mi Ma, losers have to take off one item.

And somehow, Huifang keep being the lucky one!
HAHAHA.

Reached home around 10plus, exhausted.
Headed down for BAOC prep the next day!

Basically, its Games' Day!
After playing Animal Game with the whole of SR together, we headed down to the basketball court area beside Canteen 2 to be station masters.

Sidetrack: Look what my SCs did to Zhonghao's Stitch! Its a guy lor, got chest hair one. HAHA!

My station was Telematch, and we have to handle around 80 groups! Huifang still says she wanna camwhore in our station, but we dont even have the time to rest our feets because the groups just kept coming and coming.

Now i realise being a station master is not that easy.
Imagine repeating the same instructions 80 times to different groups within 3-4 hours in the hot sun.
Woah.

But its still quite funny to see the groups do all the stuff.
HAHA.

First day of orientation started off drowsy, due to lack of sleep the previous night. But nonetheless, the excited atmosphere is oh-so-infectious!
